Hello, I'm Althea Marie A. Mariano, teacher Althea for short. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Science major in Chemistry. Even though it is not really inclined to teaching, I have always liked the idea of meeting people and teaching them what I know. My mother and grandfather were both teachers and it always touches my heart whenever they tell me fond stories about their students and their experiences as teachers. I used to do volunteer works like teaching Filipino children Chemistry, Math and English in a fun and interactive way. I also attend events where you get to randomly meet and talk with Japanese and Korean speakers where you help and teach them how to speak English. I hold those times dear in my heart, not only was I able to help them but they also taught me new things. It makes me realize that there is no greater reward than being remembered by people because you have shared something fun and memorable with them. I studied far from my hometown, so I know how difficult it is to try out new things. Because of this, I learned to easily adapt to change, I became more approachable and considerate of other people. More importantly, I am an open-minded person and I appreciate it whenever someone opens up to me about things they like and if they are bothered by something, I am willing to lend a helping hand. I am a friendly person and I am bubbly too. And since I am an open-minded person, I always think that each individual is unique in their own way and I value them for that. That is why I am confident that I can do my best in making the English lessons fun, understandable, interesting and comfortable for students.
